Face Frame Cabinets
These cabinets incorporate a solid wood frame that is attached to the front edges of the cabinet cases. Hinges mount to this face frame and there is usually a wide gap between cabinet doors and drawer fronts, which makes the face frame a visible part of the cabinet bank. The amount of overlay will vary depending on the hinge and plate pairing used.
- Full overlay
- Covers up to 3/4" of the face frame and gives cabinets a streamlined "Euro" box look. Typically yields a 1/4" ~ 3/8" gap between cabinet doors.
- Half overlay
- Covers up to 1/4" of the face frame. A more traditional setup that typically yields a 1-3/4" ~ 2" gap between doors depending on the face frame stile width used.
